(WKBN) – Do you like to eat in raw cookie dough?
The CDC issued a statement recently reminding people not to indulge their sweet tooth.
Dr. Mike Sevilla from Family Practice Center of Salem says baking these treats are worth the wait.
He says dough could have hidden dangers.
The CDC and Sevilla say flour can contain e. coli and raw eggs can have salmonella. Both diseases are preventable if the cookies are baked.
“You may not have symptoms right away — it may be one or two days afterward. It’s mainly stomach type symptoms. They would get abdominal pain, vomiting, sometimes fever.”
He says if you fall ill to call your doctor.
Sevilla reminds us that children can get sick more easily.
To prevent sickness, follow baking instructions.
