Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag sets season 2 premiere date

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is going to have a very busy spring.

Amazon has announced that the second season of the writer-actor’s critically acclaimed series Fleabag will be dropping May 17, almost three years after the first season premiered.

Fleabag, which debuted Stateside in September 2016, is based on a one-woman show that Waller-Bridge originally performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Just last year, it was announced that Waller-Bridge and the show would be coming to New York City for a limited five-week engagement, beginning March 7.

Waller-Bridge is also the creator of the hit spy drama Killing Eve, which will launch its second season April 7.

Fleabag is a pitch-black comedy following a sex-obsessed narcissist navigating her young years in London. “I really wanted to hide a tragedy in a comedy and I really wanted to trick people,” Waller-Bridge previously told EW’s What to Watch podcast. “I love the idea of disarming an audience through comedy and making them feel safe, and in turn making them vulnerable to twists and turns that they might not be expecting from a character. It was one of the most important things I was trying to maintain in the TV show.”
